Welcome

...to the DELANO KINDRED Web Site!

The DELANO KINDRED was founded in 1991 for the purpose of exploring the ancestry and genealogy of our common ancestor, Philippe de Lanoy. Philippe was born to Jan and Marie de Lanoy around 1602 in Leiden, Holland, and was baptized there on the 6th of November, 1603. In 1621, Philippe arrived in Plimoth (now Plymouth, Massachusetts) on the ship Fortune and some time later changed his name to Philip Delano. He is the progenitor of the Delano family in America.

DELANO KINDRED "CHALLENGE" COIN

The DELANO KINDRED is pleased to offer this beautiful Challenge Coin as a member benefit to raise awareness and pride for the Kindred organization. This special coin, 1 1/2 inches in diameter, will be a great keepsake for years to come. A limited number of these coins are available and it is hoped that you will be delighted with our decision to promote our family organization in this way. The theme of this coin is Kindred Spirits, which is defined as "people who share a common bond or experience that joins them together on a higher level of consciousness." Being related by direct descent from the Delano family is that common bond. It is felt that this is an appropriate message to send to our members and friends.

Delano Kindred Challenge Coin

Solid Brass "Challenge" Coin depicting the ship Fortune in 1621. Actual diameter of coin is 1.5 inches. The front of the coin depicts the ship Fortune, from an original design by Jeremy Dupertius Bangs. We are indeed fortunate to have such a wonderful friend and scholar with such artistic capabilities. Philippe de Lanoy arrived in America aboard the Fortune in 1621, "a lusty lad of 17." The reverse side of the coin depicts the Delano Anchor Logo adopted several years ago and designed with the help of one of our members. Displayed prominently on this side are the Delano name and the Kindred Spirits theme. We have also included our website address. The use of "challenge" coins dates back to World War 1. Manufactured by SymbolArts, our coins are of the highest quality and are custom-made to our own specifications: die-struck in solid brass, highly polished with fine detail and vivid colors. Owning and carrying such a coin promotes identification and pride of affiliation of a member with the issuing organization as well as reinforcing the core values of that organization.
