NL #47, October-November 2004

This newsletter announces a change of location for the 2005 meeting from Salt Lake City to Plymouth, Massachusetts, due to unfavorable hotel contract obligations in Salt Lake City. A review of the area and "things to do in Plymouth" was presented next, along with the tentative schedule of events for the meeting. Also in this issue is an article including comments and observations from Dr. Jeremy Bangs, a former curator of the Plimouth Plantation, of a painting by the Dutch artist Adam Willaerts (1577-1664) known for his accuracy. A "View of New Plymouth in 1638" shows several Dutch ships approaching Plymouth harbor. Next is presented an article about BENJAMIN FRANKLIN DELANO, NAVAL CONSTRUCTOR U.S.N. Like his brothers William Hartt Delano and Edward Hartt Delano, Benjamin Franklin Delano was a well-known ship builder in the mid-1800s. The brothers were seventh generation DELANOs in the "Dr. Thomas Branch". Also noted in this issue is the recent addition of Philippe Delano to the SPEEDWELL Passenger List by the Mayflower Society as a result of research done in 1994 by B.N.
