NL #67, July-August 2011

In this issue we include information about the 2011 Annual Membership Meeting and Reunion in Stillwater, Minnesota capably arranged by Cousins Tom and Kristin Delano. At the Annual Meeting, Cousin George DeLano retired as President and was ably succeeded by Cousin Muriel Cushing. We have also learned of the serious deterioration of Lt. Jonathan's gravestone. Initial plans for its restoration as well as other old gravestones of significance are being developed. Also included is information about our various members and letters of thanks from the Franklin Roosevelt Library and the Plimoth Plantation. Stories about Congressman Charles Delano at the First Battle of Bull Run and a more recent one about clam digger, Joe Delano are included. Initial planning for the 2012 Reunion in conjunction with the Fairhaven, Massachusetts Bicentennial is mentioned. A story about the Wreck of the Ship Hungarian by Cousin Muriel is featured in this issue. The month of November has some significant dates of interest... these dates are highlighted in the newsletter. To view this newsletter in it is entirety, click here

NL #66, March-April, 2011

In this issue of the Bonnes Nouvelles we include an article about the New England Historical and Genealogical Society (NEHGS) and a visit by Cousin Cathy Delano and her cousins to this institution in Boston. Also in this article we find that another U.S. President can claim descent from Philippe de Lanoy. To our chagrin and error we printed a non-updated draft of the Delano to Dillinger article in our last newsletter. We have included the corrected and updated version in this issue. Also we have included updated information about the 2011 Annual Meeting and Reunion in Historic Stillwater Minnesota on 17 and 18 June. It should be an interesting Reunion and offers an additional event of an evening dinner cruise on the St. Croix River the evening of the 16th, before reunion festivities begin. At the reunion we will hold our Annual Charitable Organization Drawing and therefore have included a form in this issue that you may use to nominate candidates for the drawing?an accompanying article explains more about it. Also in this issue are updates on various projects and happenings. We have found that there are inordinate delays in mailing the bulk rate "mixed-state" mailings of the Bonnes Nouvelles. In some cases it has taken up to 17 days for delivery to be made. We have discussed this delay with the U.S. Postal Service and will continue to do so until better results are obtained. NL #65, November-December, 2010

In this issue we tell the story about the search of the Dillinger family in their quest to document their confusing line of descent from Dillinger to Delano. Now that our DELANO KINDRED web site is operational we have received a number of queries and questions from our web site visitors. One included the photo album of an unknown Delano family. We have included the story of the search for this family and some of the ensuing plans that have evolved from it. Also included is information about the 2011 Annual Meeting and Reunion in Stillwater, MN. We have included news about some of our members' activities, an update about the Vrouwekerk Plaque and the Annual Questionnaire. In the final adjustments to the previous newsletter (NL #64), we missed the scrambling of part of page 7 that occurred in a last minute punctuation correction. We are sorry we missed it and have inserted a corrected NL #64 page 7 in this issue for your convenience. If your membership expired on 31 December 2010, this will be the last newsletter you will receive unless you renew your membership. Please renew your membership now for 2011 so you will continue to receive the Bonnes Nouvelles 2011 issues. We have included a 2011 Membership Application in case you have misplaced the Dues Renewal Form sent to you in October. Unfortunately a story of a visit to the NEHGS could not be included due to space limitations. We plan to include it in our next issue. We wish every one a very Happy New Year. NL #64, July-August, 2010

In this issue we include highlights of the 2010 Reunion at the Indian Head Resort, NH, in June as well as the 2010 Annual Membership Meeting and some early information about our plans for the 2011 Reunion scheduled in June 2011. We are pleased that efforts of Cousins Paula and Terry Delano have established our new DELANO KINDRED Web Site which is now up and running. A review of Cousin Carolyn Clarke's recently published regional genealogy about the DELANOs Of Old Rochester is also included as well as happenings involving the Vrouwekerk in Leiden, The Netherlands. Information about our members, who are new, Cousin Muriel Cushing's recent award, and the lives of some of our departed cousins is included. This summer your editor and publisher moved to a new city. A new printer had to be found and new arrangements with U.S. Postal Authorities were required. We hope that the publishing process will be operating smoothly for the next issue of the Bonnes Nouvelles. To view this newsletter in its entirety, click here.

NL #63, March, 2010

You will note that this issue of the Bonnes Nouvelles is several pages shorter. Your editor will be moving at the end of March to the northern Virginia area; consequently the time to publish this newsletter was shortened significantly. In this issue we include additional information about the June 2010 Annual Meeting and Reunion at the Indian Head Resort near Lincoln, New Hampshire. We have included articles about the DELANOs who settled in that state, the 2009 Annual Questionnaire Results, as well as other articles. Please note the change in address to where you should send your Reunion reservation and registration forms on 31 March. This address is included on the updated forms that were inserted in the 2009 Membership Directory and in this issue of the Bonnes Nouvelles. Finally we remind everyone that it is time to submit nominations of candidates for the Annual Charity Drawing. Please see the article included in this issue and the inserted form for your use.
