NL #07, June 1993
This issue presents the Agenda and planning information for the second Annual Meeting of the Society, to be held in Akron, New York on 7 August, 1993. The series on Delano Family Branches continues with the Lt. Jonathan Delano branch, and an explanation of the Society's goal of correcting errors found in the GHAAHD is described. The article begun in Newsletter #06 on "Delano Towns, Now and Then" is concluded in this issue. A fascinating story about Marion native James Delano, a Marine naval officer, and his unlikely marriage to Russian aristocrat Alexandrina Petrovna Kuzmishchova is reprinted from the February 6, 1991 issue of THE SENTINAL (presumably a Marion, MA newspaper). A listing of other Mayflower Family Societies rounds out this issue. To view this newsletter in it is entirety, click here
NL #06, April 1993
In this issue we describe finding a copy of the genealogy of Mary Delano (first child of PHILIPPE DE LA NOYE and his wife, Hester) and her husband, Jonathan Dunham, which revealed that they had a son, Daniel, born in 1656. Also mentioned is a photograph of a proclamation of Friendship and Recognition given to the Alden Kindred by the Delano Kindred on August 1, 1992, which was published in the Alden Kindred's annual newsletter. A series of articles describing Delano Family Branches was continued in this issue with the John Delano branch, and corrections were made to the information about Dr. Thomas Delano's second marriage that was published in previous newsletters. A discussion of towns bearing the name of DELANO, "Than and Now", is also presented. Included too was a handy reference source for Old Naming Patterns (i.e. which child was named after whom). The Board of the Delano Kindred announced that "The Genealogy, History, and Alliances of the American House of Delano 1621 to 1899" (commonly known as the GHAAHD) has been adopted as the major genealogical source for this Society. Continuing the introduction of Philippe's family, this edition covers the Thomas Delano branch of the family. Thomas was Philippe's fourth child and second son.
